Green Velvet Jacket and New Boots

I had been looking for a velvet jacket for ages and finally found a really lovely green one in the local charity shop.  It fitted fine on the shoulders but was a bit roomy around the waist.  I took the side seams and back seam in a bit, opted for hand stitching as velvet can be temperamental.

I removed the metal buttons and replaced 3 of them with some pretty glass buttons, given to me by my Grandma many years ago.

Now I’m thinking ….was it a good choice, does it really fit in my minimal wardrobe?  It goes well with the skinny jeans, but I was hoping to wear it with my STALF Charcoal Linen Dress but it doesn’t look right.  The dress looks better with a long cardigan.

I got these Clarks boots a while ago for 50p.  They fit so well, but seem an odd length to me.  I decided that I would wear them more if they were darker, so invested £4 in some shoe dye.  Finally got round to tackling the task, and love the result.

A much more wearable colour.  They are ok with skinny jeans, but even better with my dress and opaque tights.

  1. Gorgeous jacket. I found a green velvet coat/jacket from Monsoon in a charity shop a few weeks ago. I think I’m going to change the buttons after reading your post..a good tip 😀
